Who we are

Southside is a Purpose Driven Body of believers.  Founded in 1894, Southside Baptist Church has existed in numerous physical locations and has impacted the lives of thousands for Christ. 

We strive to be a church which, while traveling against the current of culture, offers contemporary, meaningful, life changing opportunities for believers and seekers.  The music of our worship services is high energy, challenging and current.  Much of the lyrical content is taken straight from Scripture.  The Pastor’s messages apply the life changing truth of Scripture to everyday situations and challenges.  In an effort to ensure that all who attend are intimately acquainted with the Word of God, the pastor’s campaign for 2006 is for each attendee to “Bring Your Own Bible ( BYOB).”

We are affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, the North Carolina Baptist State Convention and the Wilmington Baptist Association.  We support the Cooperative Program.  In addition to the tremendous mission work undertaken by the International Mission Board and the North American Mission Boards, Southside is at work in Ubauna, Brazil, Gulfport, Mississippi and in Wilmington, North Carolina.
